Bobby Deneen Tattoo Artist

Bobby Deneen’s journey toward becoming a tattoo artist started when he was a baby. Both sides of his family are filled with artisans with his Grandmother being the heaviest influence in his life. From his earliest memories, every time he visited with his Grandmother she sat him down with a paper and pencil and fostered his creativity.

Bobby started his professional career as an artist working with a different medium. He was responsible for creating T-shirt designs and flyers for the band Spooky Fruit, which belonged to a friend of his. During this stint he made the decision to buy a Huck Spaulding tattoo kit, build a studio above the garage where the band rehearsed, open shop and the rest is history. Bobby was under the illusion that he would be rich in less than a year but his financial success didn’t materialize at that time.

He struggled trying to make ends meet with his true passion of art and as his family grew, he had to work a full-time job during the day and tattoo at night to keep the bills paid and food on the table. Through the help of friends and local tattoo artists, books and videos, he began honing his skill and furthering his knowledge. In the last year, he was able to travel to various conventions attending seminars conducted by award winning artists. This education stepped his game up immensely.

During the years when tattooing was still illegal in Oklahoma he was making a decent living doing tattoos and quit his day job to tattoo full time. Eventually, life and bills caught up with him and he decided to venture out and work at a tattoo parlor. He initially went to work at First Amendment Tattoo but found that he wasn’t particularly suited for that shop and moved to OKC Tattoo’s until the shop was sold. Several of the staff members from OKC Tattoo moved to Undisputed Tattoos and this is where the dream and realization of Cannibal Graphics was born. Bobby Deneen and Curtis Fletcher pooled their money, time and talent to successfully open Cannibal Graphics. They also had a fantastic resource in D.J. Richardson, owner of Undisputed Tattoos, during this time. He supported their endeavor and offered seasoned advice to the duo.

After 7 months of blood, sweat and backbreaking labor, October of 2006 finally arrived, marking the day when Bobby and Curtis finally opened the doors to their brand new tattoo shop. Bobby is proud of his and Curtis’ achievements and is very proud of the staff they have assembled and the shop that they now call theirs. All of the artists working at Cannibal Graphics are native to Oklahoma and are all exceptional artists. It also is a huge benefit to Cannibal Graphics that they have an extended family within the Oklahoma tattoo scene that is comprised of a majority of the other reputable tattoo studios in Oklahoma. Look for a lot of awesome things to come from the people that Bobby speaks so highly of as well as from Cannibal Graphics.
